Who Can have Acupuncture:
Acupuncture can be used at any age. Naturally babies and children respond much quicker as their energy systems are more active than adults. It is extremely useful for pregnant women and studies have shown how effective it can be when treating the symptoms of morning sickness. Although certain acupuncture points must not be used during pregnancy, a qualified practitioner will know these and act accordingly.
This is one of many reasons why it is important to make sure your practitioner is registered with the BRITISH ACUPUNCTURE COUNCIL and the BRITISH ACUPUNCTURE ASSOCIATION.
Patients will not be asked to stop any medication they have been prescribed by their doctor. However, a full list of medication should be brought to the consultation. Acupuncture treatment combines well with many other therapies e.g. acupressure, osteopathy. please advise both practitioners if you are receiving treatments at the same time.
